Jonathan Warns Nigerians Against Voting For Buhari
Goodluck Jonathan January 13 warned
Nigerians against voting for the All
Progressives Congress (APC) presidential
candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in
the upcoming elections.
President Goodluck Jonathan
Speaking in Osogbo at the presidential
campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Jonathan claimed that Buhari’s
emergence as winner would only bring troubles
and unnecessary punishments on Nigerians.
According to Punch, GEJ noted that his
opponent already had a chance to improve
peoples’ lives while being the military Head of
State, adding however that he failed.

The opposition candidate could have introduce
an effective mass transit system in the country
but did not do anything about it, said Jonathan.
The President also recalled what the PDP had
fulfilled the promises.
“We have done reasonably well despite the
challenges before us. All of you saw the train
that just passed through this place now. We
promised to resuscitate railway and we did it.
All of you saw the train; we can even end the
campaign with that.
“Those who are the opportunity to do it but did
not do anything; about it and they want to come
back now. Don’t allow them. Mass transit
cannot work by using small buses, you need
train which will be cheaper.”

President Jonathan said that his administration
was planning the railway line to link Lagos
State with the Eastern part of the country.
According to the politician, it would ensure
cheaper and safer transportation of passengers
and goods.
It would be recalled that yesterday the
PDP’s National Secretary, Wale Oladipo, made
similar claims during the press conference
in Osogbo . The official said that under Buhari
the situation in Nigeria might get worse.
In his Tuesday speech Jonathan also touched
upon the lingering issues of insurgency and
unemployment in the country, Premium Times
reports.
“This terrorism cannot last forever. If my
administration is re-elected, terror will be
minimal.”
According to GEJ, the new promises were made
not because they “want to win the election but
because our party stands for development”.
