This September some of the biggest stars in Nigerian music will
be dropping their albums. While some of them are eagerly-anticipated
follow-ups to previously successful works, others are equally
eagerly-anticipated debuts. Wonder why they all picked September.
Orezi
The Shoki singer comes first as his album drops today, September 1. The singer, who became famous off hit singles such as Rihanna, Shuperu and Shoki, finally drops his debut album, ‘Ghen Ghen’. The Sprisal Music act visited Naij.com recently where he spoke about the album among others.
Wizkid
At the pace Wizzy is going, he may soon be famous for being more of
an international act than a local one, much like soul singer Asa. In
recent months, he has been associated with international acts like
Drake, Skepta, Alicia Keys and Chris Brown. Fans are looking forward to
his album coming out this September but at the same time fear another
postponement.
This album will be his first under his Star Boy label having previously dropped two under Empire Mates Entertainment. With the momentum around Wizkid next album, it might be the biggest from a Nigerian artiste with expected collaborations from superstars like Drake, Chris Brown and several others.
Jesse Jagz
The Chocolate City returnee promised fans a September date for his
5th studio album ‘Return Of The Gods’. Fans anticipate a strong comeback
from the talented rapper who won the much coveted Lyricist On The Roll
award at the last Headies. Will the album confirm his comeback? It’s a
waiting game.
Davido
Having dropped his debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, a couple of years
ago, the HKN boss has been growing from strength to strength, scooping
all the major awards locally and internationally. With monster hits to
match his momentum, one begins to wonder what kept him so long from
dropping his follow-up album. The ‘Baddest’ album is arguably the most
anticipated album of the year. It is expected to have some surprise
appearances. Fingers crossed.
Iyanya
The MMMG star also picked a September date for the release of his
third studio album. The first winner of the maiden edition of MTN
Project Fame is ready to relaunch his career after a brief layoff.
